🌟 Community Update: Dog Fouling – Let’s Keep Our Ward Clean and Safe 🌟

Hello everyone,

As part of our most recent community survey, dog fouling has been highlighted as one of the top priorities you want us to address in the ward. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share your concerns — your feedback helps shape what we focus on locally.

🐾 Why Dog Fouling Matters

Dog fouling isn’t just unpleasant — it poses real risks:

Health Concerns: Dog waste can spread harmful bacteria and parasites, including toxocariasis, which can cause serious illness.

Environmental Impact: Fouling ruins public spaces, parks, play areas and damages our shared community environment.

Quality of Life: It affects how safe and comfortable people feel using footpaths, green spaces and communal areas.

⚠️ The Law & Consequences

Dog owners must clean up after their dogs in public spaces. Failing to do so can result in:

Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) – usually £100, issued on the spot.

Prosecution for non‑payment, with fines of up to £1,000.

Local authorities and enforcement teams regularly patrol hotspot areas and respond to reports from the public.

🐶 What We’re Asking From Dog Owners

Please help by:

Always carrying bags when walking your dog.

Using any public waste bin — dog waste does not need a special bin.

Teaching younger or new dog owners about responsible pet ownership.
